Our position
We don't chase louder or warmer. We chase lower — the noise floor, the distortion, the distance between you and the room where it was recorded.

The components · Batch 11
We build a short catalogue on purpose. Every unit is hand-assembled, measured one at a time, serial-numbered, and shipped with a report signed by the hands that built it.

Dual ES9039 chips, measured THD+N below −120 dB, milled unibody shell. USB, optical and coaxial in; balanced and single-ended out.

Discrete Class A output, silent volume from a machined brass knob.

Silver-plated OCC copper pair, hand-terminated, half-meter.

The matched pair, serial-numbered together, stacking feet included. Measured as a chain, not just as parts — one report, both signatures.

No voiceover, no music bed. Just the analyzer, the sweep, and Jonah reading numbers aloud before he signs the report that ships in the box.

The bench
Halcyon builds desktop DACs and headphone amplifiers in Portland, one unit at a time, for listeners who want to hear the recording and nothing else.
Today the shop is still small by choice. Enclosures are milled from a single billet of 6061 aluminum, anodized in-house, then fitted by hand to boards we populate, burn in and measure under the same roof.
Nothing leaves without a number on it and a name beside that number. If it ever comes back, it comes back to the same bench.

Detail study · The knob
The Solstice volume knob is machined from solid brass and fitted by hand. No scratch as you reach for the quiet passage. It will patina. We think it should.
Meet the Solstice →Every unit ships with its own — your serial, your curves, a real signature.
Enclosures milled from one block of aluminum, anodized in-house.
Repairs done at the Portland bench. Sell it on; the promise goes too.

The Bench Log
One short letter when a new batch opens — the serial range, the measurements of the first unit off the bench, and first claim on a number before we post it publicly. Around six letters a year. Never a sale.
