Lips · Velvet Bite Lipstick

The red you'll actually wear.

Velvet Bite Lipstick in berry red satin, twisted up from its gold refillable case and standing on a pale pink plaster plinth, warm late-afternoon light, soft shadow on a blush-pink wall

Berry red satin that goes on sheer and builds to a full bite. It lives in a gold case you keep, because lipstick cases are refillable.

Our story

Made in small batches in Melbourne.

Pinkwell is everyday makeup, and we keep the range small on purpose: a lipstick, a blush, a foundation and the brushes to put them on. Making a few things in small batches means we can make each one the way we want it, then make it again.

Most makeup bags are full of shades that nearly worked and packaging that goes straight in the bin. Pinkwell is the other way round: buildable colour you'll actually finish, in gold cases, mirrored compacts and wooden handles worth keeping.

Field notes · The gold case

Keep the case. Refill the colour.

Velvet Bite Lipstick in its gold refillable case.

Velvet Bite Lipstick in berry red satin, twisted up from its gold refillable case and standing on a pale pink plaster plinth, warm late-afternoon light, soft shadow on a blush-pink wall

Most lipstick goes in the bin with a perfectly good case still wrapped around it. Ours doesn't have to. Velvet Bite comes in a gold case made to be kept, and lipstick cases are refillable, so when the berry runs out you refill the colour instead of buying the whole thing again.

It's the same thinking behind the mirrored compact on Flush and the wooden handles on the Soft Edge trio. Makeup is meant to be used up. The things it comes in don't need to be. Keep the case in your bag, on the bedside table or by the mirror, wherever it lives now.

On film · Flush Pressed Blush

Watch Flush build, tap by tap.

Buildable colour is easier to see than to explain. One tap of Flush for a hint, another for a glow, a third if the day calls for it. Stop wherever it starts to look like you.

One swipe for the school run, three for dinner. Same lipstick, same gold case, and I'm already planning the refill.

Two taps and I stopped. I looked like I'd been for a walk, not like I'd done my makeup.

It really does wear like skin. By lunch I'd forgotten I had it on.
