Our Workshop

Everything here is made by hand, a few hundred at a time.

We started Iron & Leaf in a leaky Portland garage in 2014 — one wheel, one small kiln, and a stubborn belief that the objects you live alongside should be honest about how they were made.

Our potters throw every planter and vessel on the wheel. Our smith forges each tool from carbon steel and seasons the handles in linseed oil. Nothing is mass-pressed, and nothing is meant to be thrown away.

The full story

Iron & Leaf started as two people repairing garden tools that were not worth repairing. The first thing we made ourselves was the trowel, because we could not find one with a tang that ran the whole length of the handle.

Stockists

Thirty-one shops carry us across the US and four in the UK. If you would rather buy in person, we will tell you the nearest one.

Care & Repair

Carbon steel wants oiling once a season. Send anything of ours back at any age and we will sharpen, re-handle or re-tin it for the cost of the parts.

Shipping

Flat $8 in the US, free over $150. Tools ship in a week; anything in stoneware waits for a full kiln, which can be two.

Returns

Sixty days, used or not. A trowel that has been in the ground is still returnable, and we will clean it up and sell it as seconds.
