Started at the Anvil
Iron & Leaf began in a one-car garage in the Pacific Northwest. A retired blacksmith and a stubborn gardener met over a broken spade at a swap meet. The spade was cheap steel — stamped, painted, doomed to snap. So they made a better one.
That first trowel took eleven hours. The ash handle was shaped from a windfall branch. The blade was hammer-drawn from a railroad spike. It still digs. That was seven years ago. Today, every tool in our workshop follows the same principle: if it can't outlast the gardener, it doesn't leave the forge.
What Growers Say
I've broken three big-box trowels in two seasons. The Iron & Leaf trowel has been in clay soil for four years and the edge is still sharp. I will never buy another brand.
The pruning shears changed how I approach my rose garden. The spring tension is perfect — my hands don't ache after a full morning of deadheading anymore.
Bought the seed kit as a gift for my daughter. She's now on her third season and saves her own seed. That kit started something beautiful in our family.
