Scupper & Tack

Scupper & Tack is a boat shed workshop in Port Townsend, Washington, run by Marit Holloway, who cut sails for wooden boats for nineteen years before she started on smocks. She sews each pullover from heavy cotton canvas on an old sail machine, rubs warm beeswax and linseed oil into it by hand in three coats, and hangs it on a rope line in the shed for fourteen days until the finish sets.
