Tallow Moor Knits

Tallow Moor Knits is one knitter and her brother working out of a former net loft above a boatyard in Astoria, Oregon. The wool comes from a single ranch of Columbia sheep near Heppner, spun undyed and left with some of its lanolin so it sheds a light rain. Each gansey is knit in the round on five steel needles from the hem up, with a textured yoke of cables and seed stitch and no side seams to split. One sweater takes about ninety hours, so the shop lists five or six at a time.
