Pinion & Awl works out of a converted feed store on the east side of Pueblo, Colorado. Dolores spent twenty years trimming seats at a restoration shop, and now she cuts each wrap from a paper tracing the customer sends of their own wheel, then punches every stitch hole by hand. Her nephew Ray skives the edges and packs the kits. Most orders go to owners of 1960s and 1970s pickups and sedans whose original rims have cracked in the sun.
- Product
- Traced Fit Steering Wheel Wrap, $64
- About it
- A tan aniline leather wrap cut to the tracing of your own wheel, pre punched for a cross stitch, with two curved needles and eight metres of oxblood waxed thread. Most owners finish it in one evening at the kitchen table without taking the wheel off the car.
- Brand facts
- Every wrap is cut from a paper tracing of the customer's own steering wheel rim. Stitch holes are pre punched by hand at four millimetres apart, so the owner only sews. Each kit ships with two curved needles and eight metres of waxed polyester thread in a choice of four colours.
- Style
- Tech Warehouse. Electronics marketplace — short hero, colored buttons
Who this theme is for
A small automotive shop that sells parts or accessories made to fit a specific car: steering wheel wraps, seat covers, shift boots, gauge rings, anything where the buyer has to send a measurement or pick a year and model before they pay. The Tech Warehouse style keeps the hero short and puts the product and the button high on the page, which suits a buyer who arrived from a forum thread already knowing what they want. It works for a catalog of one made to order kit with a few thread or colour options.
What was decided in the brief
The style is Tech Warehouse on the second variant, cyan with a rose accent, because the shop sits in Pueblo and restores trucks whose dashboards were painted turquoise at the factory. Cyan carries the header, links and buttons, and rose is held back for the price and the add to cart, close to the colour of oxblood waxed thread. The three brand facts sit under the hero in the order a buyer worries about them: will it fit my wheel, can I sew it myself, and what comes in the box. The page stays on a cool off white so a merchant's own photos of tan leather and red thread read true.
What is in the ZIP
- A single-product homepage: hero, trust strip, benefits, how-to-use or specs, reviews, final call to action.
- The whole store shell: product, collection, cart, search and 404 templates, header, footer, announcement bar.
- Valid Shopify 2.0 sections with schema, so every line of text is editable in the Shopify editor.
- The photos you see in the preview, ready to swap for your own.
Questions
- Is this Shopify theme really free to download?
- Yes. You get a complete Shopify 2.0 theme ZIP and no account is needed. In your Shopify admin open Online Store, then Themes, then Add theme, then Upload zip file.
- My product is made to fit. Where does the customer give me their measurements?
- Add a line item property to the product form, such as a text field for the rim diameter, or install a product options app that adds the field for you. Whatever the customer types is saved on the order, so you see it before you cut.
- Can I change the cyan and rose to my own colours?
- Yes. The palette is five settings in the theme editor. Change the primary and the buttons, the header, the links and the section rules all follow it, because no colour is hardcoded in the CSS.
