The brief this store was built from

Tinaja & Cord is a four acre chile farm outside Mesilla, New Mexico, run by Rosalinda and her brother Teo on land their grandfather irrigated from a stone cistern, the tinaja that gives the farm its name. Every October the pods are picked fully red, braided onto cotton cord while still supple, then dried on south facing racks for three weeks. Nothing is smoked, sprayed or dyed, so the color a buyer sees in the pantry in March is the color that came off the plant.

Product
Red Chile Ristra, 24 Pods, $42
About it
Twenty four sun dried red chile pods braided onto a foot and a half of cotton cord, with a loop at the top for a nail or a peg. Hang it in the kitchen, snip a pod when a pot needs heat, and the string keeps its color for a full year.
Brand facts
Pods are picked fully red and braided while still supple, then dried three weeks in open air. Each ristra is tied on plain cotton cord with no wire, so it can be composted or cooked from. The farm is four acres, irrigated from a stone cistern the family has used since the 1940s.
Style
Marketplace. Department store — stacked nav with search, multi-panel hero

Who this theme is for

A food seller with a short list and a strong single product: a farm, a spice maker, a regional pantry brand, anyone whose buyers already know what a good version looks like and want to see it before they click. The marketplace layout gives a small catalog the structure of a larger shop, with a clear header and a category row, so a first time visitor finds the product in one glance. It suits a store with three to thirty items and honest photographs of the harvest and the bench.

What was decided in the brief

The style is Marketplace on the red variant. Food sells on appetite, and appetite reads as warm and saturated, so the primary is a true chile red held against a near white page and a single amber accent kept for price and add to cart. The three brand facts sit as separate short lines under the hero because picking, drying and irrigation answer three different questions a buyer has about freshness, and a paragraph buries two of them. Backgrounds stay pale so a dark red pod photographs as the loudest thing on the page.

What is in the ZIP

  • A single-product homepage: hero, trust strip, benefits, how-to-use or specs, reviews, final call to action.
  • The whole store shell: product, collection, cart, search and 404 templates, header, footer, announcement bar.
  • Valid Shopify 2.0 sections with schema, so every line of text is editable in the Shopify editor.
  • The photos you see in the preview, ready to swap for your own.

Questions

Is this Shopify theme really free to download?
Yes. You get a complete Shopify 2.0 theme ZIP and no account is needed. In your Shopify admin open Online Store, then Themes, then Add theme, then Upload zip file.
I sell seasonal food. Can the page handle being sold out?
Yes. A sold out product shows its status on the card and the product page, so you can leave the page live between harvests. Add a note in the announcement bar in the theme editor to say when the next batch ships.
Can I change the red and amber to my own colors?
Yes. The palette is five settings in the theme editor. Change the primary and the buttons, the header, the links and the section rules all move with it, because no color is hardcoded in the CSS.
