The brief this store was built from

Fennick & Lode is a single jeweler's bench in a former assay office in Bisbee, Arizona, run by Ines Vale. She carves each ring shape by hand into a cuttlefish bone, pours melted sterling scrap into it, and keeps the wavy growth lines the bone leaves on the metal instead of polishing them away. A bone gives one casting, so no two rings come out the same, and every ring is sized after casting by hammering it on a steel mandrel.

Product
Cuttlebone Band, $84
About it
A wide sterling silver ring cast in cuttlefish bone, with the wavy lines of the bone left on its face. Each one is a single casting, so the pattern on yours will not repeat on any other ring.
Brand facts
Every ring is cast in its own cuttlefish bone, which breaks after a single pour. The silver is recycled sterling scrap, melted on the bench in a small clay crucible. Rings are sized by hand on a steel mandrel after casting, half sizes included.
Style
Elevated Classic. Elevated fashion — split hero with side promo

Who this theme is for

A jeweler who makes small batches by hand and sells a short list of pieces: a ring caster, a chain maker, a stone setter with a dozen designs. The Elevated Classic layout splits the hero so a large photo of the piece sits beside the headline and a smaller promo panel, which suits a shop that wants to show one hero ring and point to a second story at the same time. It works for catalogs of three to thirty items photographed on the bench.

What was decided in the brief

The style is Elevated Classic on its green variant. Silver reads cold on a white page, so the primary is a deep forest green that makes a bright metal look brighter, with copper kept as the accent, the colour of the crucible after a pour. The add to cart button stays green, because white text on that copper measures 3.26 to 1, under the 4.5 to 1 a button label needs, while white on the green measures 14.02 to 1. The three brand facts are kept as short separate lines because the mould, the metal and the sizing answer three different worries a ring buyer has, and one paragraph would hide the sizing answer, which is the one that stops returns.

What is in the ZIP

  • A single-product homepage: hero, trust strip, benefits, how-to-use or specs, reviews, final call to action.
  • The whole store shell: product, collection, cart, search and 404 templates, header, footer, announcement bar.
  • Valid Shopify 2.0 sections with schema, so every line of text is editable in the Shopify editor.
  • The photos you see in the preview, ready to swap for your own.

Questions

Is this Shopify theme really free?
Yes. You download a complete Shopify 2.0 theme ZIP and no account is needed. In your Shopify admin go to Online Store, then Themes, then Add theme, then Upload zip file.
My pieces are one of a kind. Can each product show that?
Yes. Every product page has room for several photos and a written description, so you can show the exact piece a buyer will get and say that it will not be made again. Set the inventory to one and Shopify marks it sold out after the sale.
Can I change the green and copper to my own colors?
Yes. The palette lives in five settings in the theme editor. Change the primary and the button color and the header, links and section lines follow, because the colors are not hardcoded in the CSS.
